Malvani Prawns Gravy Recipe (Kolambi Rassa)Malvani Prawns curry

Ingredients:

  • 500g fresh prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tsp Malvani masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala (optional)
  • Coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Roast coconut until golden. Cool and grind to a paste.
  2. Heat remaining oil, add chopped onions and fry till golden.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  4. Add prawns, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add the ground coconut paste and Malvani masala. Mix and cook for 5–6 minutes.
  6. Add 1/2 cup water, cover and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle garam masala if using, garnish with coriander.                                                                                                                                                               Prawns curry is a beloved dish along the Konkan coast.
